Look no further for your dentist! Dr. Surface is the best I've been to. Even the endodonist, who has seen work from several dentists, commented on how nice my fillings looked. Dr. Surface saved me from crippling pain when my previous dentist kept misdiagnosing me. Brilliant dentist! Just go!

Very friendly and helpful. I went in on Saturday morning with crown that had broken off at the gum line. They took me in and spent over two hours drilling out the old root canal and making me a temporary tooth! I highly recommend.

First of all, I HATE going to the dentist.
Dr. Surface and his staff are all great. I can't remember the name of the one girl who is my favorite, but I initially went there for a follow up from an extraction gone wrong (at ROSE CITY DENTAL in PDX). Dr. Surface was able to examine my mouth and help give me care instructions and I've since had an extraction with him and ZERO pain. I kept waiting for it, but nothing happened.
He's always very diligent and his priority is to make me feel safe/comfortable/lets me know if at ANY point for whatever reason I need him to stop or take a break, just let him know.
I never thought I'd say this, but 30 years later....I like going to the Dentist now.

This is the BEST place for all your routine dental needs. The staff here are friendly and the dentist, Dr Surface, is one of the most down-to-Earth dental professionals I’ve seen in the northwest. He answers all of your questions, picks up with you where you left off (even after SIX months!) from the previous appt and genuinely cares about all of his patients. My family and I have found a dentist for LIFE!

Alex, a dental hygienist, was perfect. He remembered me when I had talked on the phone with him about my concerns 2 weeks prior, explained everything he was doing before he began, complimented me on things I was doing well and made me feel at ease for not having a check-up in 5 years. Dr. Ryan Surface talked to me like an individual and not just another patient. He even took time out of his busy day to fully answer my questions. And Jen at the front desk made even the checkout process easy. Plus their patient program for people without insurance actually made dentistry affordable. I’ve already booked my next appointment with them 6 months in advance!

I really appreciate the clean, kind and friendly atmosphere. Very open and honest about the type of work the can or cannot perform. Fair prices and work with you on payment options if procedures are above your budget.

I cannot express how great South Hillsboro Family Dentistry is. They are very family oriented and positive each time you come in. They make an effort to know who you are and take a genuine interest in you as a person and not as a patient. It has been a long time since we have been to the dentist and the kids were apprehensive about going. The staff and the doctor were amazing!! The paperwork process was a breeze, the kids were brought back right away, the staff was pleasant to engage with, and the kids came back up front with a smile on their faces. So happy with the service I received this morning, I had to write a review before I forget. The dentist and dental hygienist Christina who worked on me were both very friendly and informative. I'm also glad I wasn't pressured into getting anything that I didn't need to get done. Already scheduled my next appointment to confirm back.

I would 100% recommend South Hillsboro Family Dentistry. Dr. Surface is a great dentist and truly cares about his work and his patients. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. They even offer chapstick and blanket so your comfortable and cozy during long procedures. My whole family goes there and my 4 year son always asks to get his teeth cleaned. I love they are open late and on weekends so I don't have to miss work. I give them 10

I’m really glad I stumbled upon South Hillsboro Dentistry. I don’t feel like I am ever pressured into services that I don’t need, and the things I have needed they do a great job at explaining why it’s important. They are all so good at keeping you calm while working on your teeth, and the availability is awesome as well! I have always been able to get in same day or next day. One time Dr. Surface had just sent the hygienist home early since it was a quiet Saturday but I walked in and he was nice enough to do my cleaning himself! Very personable and thorough- I couldn’t ask for a better dentistry team

Her smile makes you smile back, no matter how grumpy or apprehensive you may be when you got there. The location is very convenient, across from Goodwill on Century. Once you go to the back to the place where the real work takes place, you'll meet Sunisa, your friendly, soft spoken hygienist. She's as sweet as she is gentle. One of the best hygienists I have had working on my teeth. This is a quiet environment with no fancy frills, just clean spartan surroundings. Dr. Surface is soft spoken with an air of quiet assurance. If you're putting off getting your teeth taken care of, don't hesitate, go to South Hillsboro Family Dentistry.

I love going to South Hillsboro family dental. I've had a lot of work done, they have been professional and friendly thru it all. I was scared to come in at first, however they have made me very comfortable and have been non judgmental. I no longer have mouth pain!

I can’t begin to explain how absolutely AWESOME this group is. Jennifer (who greets you when you first walk in) is super friendly and easy going and handled my billing and concerns with grace and humility. Dr. Ryan is a fantastic doctor who took care of my cleaning and fillings with ease and made it all absolutely painless! I even had some issues with a horrible previous dentist that left my teeth sensitive in which Dr. Ryan fixed. On top of all of this they accept most insurances and their prices are extremely reasonable. It’s hard to find a dental group with the skill set and the personalities to match! Bring your family and loved ones here as you most definitely will not be disappointed! Will definitely be recommending!

My family and I had the absolute best experience with Dr. Ryan Surface and his exceptional team! My grandma was experiencing some tooth aches so we took her to AspenDental first. They told her that she had a terrible tooth infection and they wanted to take her remaining 4 teeth in a procedure that would cost well above $3000. We didn't feel right about this diagnosis (and my grandma didn't want to lose her remaining teeth) so we went to SHFD for a second opinion. Sure enough, my grandma just had a cavity and Dr. Ryan Surface was able to get her all cleaned up and feeling better for a significantly smaller price. I went in myself for a check up and clean up and I had the best time anyone could possibly have at a dentist's office. There is just no better dentistry.

My child needed a tooth extraction and while her pediatric dentist said it would take 2 months to see her, South hillsboro was able to schedule her within 2 days. The appointment was quick, the staff was friendly, my child felt comfortable and everything went smoothly. It was also 1/4th of the cost quoted by the other dentist! Would highly recommend.

I was excited to get my teeth cleaned because it's been a while and they were able to get me in quickly and with minimal paperwork.Everyone was super friendly and they did great job. Going back to fix a chipped tooth and I am excited to get my teeth repaired and working great again!I would highly recommend them, especially if you are a busy professional strapped for time, they have appointments outside of regular business hours so you don't have to close up shop to go to the dentist.

We just moved to Hillsboro and needed a dentist for our entire family. I am so pleased to have found Dr. Surface and his terrific team. We immediately felt welcomed. My husband had two critical issues occur within a week, and Dr. Surface was able to diagnose, treat and make an action plan that have worked out great. All of us had Christina clean our teeth and she did a great job explaining better brushing habits for my kids. I know Dr. Surface is new to the area (moved here from Grants Pass), so I am thankful they had openings, but with the excellent work they do, I'm sure they are going to fill their appointment calendar. I'm TERRIFIED of dentists so I avoided them for 5 years until I NEEDED a tooth extraction and I went to an office in Portland and had a HORRENDOUS experience. So I was desperately looking for a new Dentist... Long story short...I found Dr. SURFACE and he LITERALLY saved my life (ok, maybe not literally, BUT he is pretty awesome.) I actually make voluntary appointments now and it's been great every time. I'm finally able to get my mouth fixed up (bridges, crowns, whatever) so I am excited. I hate the dentist. It is a fear that resides in the depths of my soul. It has festered and grown in proportion with my age. Having had traumatic and painful dental experiences in the past, my odontophobia - while not denied - has also never been improved by attending these "necessary" visits to the chair of some masochist that has decided putting automotive tools in my mouth is a wise idea - and indeed "necessary" to my well-being.South Hillsboro Family Dentistry has changed all of this. The staff is kind, caring, patient ... and non-judgemental!!! I was treated with respect despite my lack of poor dental-visit history; and further still was taken care of from the beginning to end with as little pain and discomfort as I believe was possible.I shared my anxieties with the amazing hygienist and was kept relaxed the whole time. I REALLY liked that I was never moved from the chair until I was ready to go. X-Rays were done right there and the Dr. also saw me in the same location - I really felt like this made a difference.I was thoroughly explained all the findings, shown and educated about what they saw, and given all the treatment options as well as best and worse case scenarios.When I came back for treatment I was treated just as kindly. My anxieties were again treated with respect, understanding, and medication. The injections were done extremely well and between the neck pillow, blanket, music, and expertise of Dr. Surface and the staff - I experienced almost no pain, little discomfort, and best of all...
